Ignite the Ignatians Choir

Rehearsals have recommenced.

Ignite is a community choir and is open to anyone with an interest in singing. There is no need to audition so if you wish to join Ignite, simply turn up on Wednesday nights at 7.30pm at The Lavella Centre, 58 Fernberg Road, Paddington.  The rehearsal space is in the main hall.  (The Lavella Centre is the old Marist Brothers College, Rosalie)

Costs:

Membership fee: $30 Adult, $20 Concession, $50 Family

Term 1: $40

Term 2: $30

Term 3: $30

Membership fee to be paid within 3 weeks of joining Ignatians

Term fee to be paid at the beginning of each term

About Ignite

The Ignatians Choir - called "Ignite" - is an UNAUDITIONED choir. Anyone is welcome to join and no previous experience is necessary, although a significant number of our choir members have been involved in Ignatians musicals in the past. We rehearse a wide range of styles - from Classical to Gilbert & Sullivan; Broadway to Pop - which means there's sure to be some repertoire to suit your interests.

"Ignite" formed in late 2005 and has already performed for the St Ignatius Parish and at various functions around Brisbane. Each year Ignite performs a "Showstoppers Concert' at the Schonell Theatre, together with a full on-stage orchestra and many talented soloists, featuring some of the best known and most loved musical theatre from Broadway and the West End.

The Ignatians Choir runs in a fairly informal setting, so all you need to do is turn up. We rehearse at 7.30pm on a Wednesday night at  The Lavella Centre, 58 Fernberg Road, Paddington. We understand attendance week to week can be tricky, but we do ask that you join with the intention of trying to be there on a weekly basis.

As with any community choir, there are some fees associated with being involved. You must become a member of Ignatians Musical Society (annual fee $30 for adults). You will also be required to pay a production fee of $40 to participate in Showstoppers. This helps us cover costs for music, the accompanist and the conductor. At around $2 per rehearsal, it's hard to find a cheaper hobby!
